A girl’s/boy’s night out.

What was a proper friends’ night out supposed to be like? Neal hadn’t had a proper night out in a long time, let alone with friends. Female friends, at that. He’d slipped into a pair of jeans that was less worn than the other few pairs in his closet and donned a shirt and jacket—-that was cool, right? He didn’t have the slightest idea as to whether or not Wendy would approve.

Then again—-they were going to the cinema, it wasn’t a date, there was nothing fancy about it, nothing to worry about, right? Just two friends having an evening out. Except Neal had taken a risk in giving Wendy permission to pick the movie they’d go see. Was he going to be stuck between the choice of glaring at his popcorn or having to watch a chick flick all evening? Naah, Wendy was cooler than that. …At least that’s what he was hoping for.

As he gave a firm knock on her front door, he shifted his weight from foot to foot with that very same thought still running through his mind. What did she have in store for them? Whatever the choice, it’d be a surprising one, knowing her.
