“Oh, it definitely counts.” Emma grinned and took another sip of her drink. She listened as he kept talking, not changing her expression as she took it in. “I like to learn hands on, so it works out.” she smirked and finished off her drink before ordering another.

She raised her eyebrow as he mentioned not making mistakes. “I don’t make mistakes. At least, not ones that anyone notice.” She grinned and shifted in her stool. “So what’s the plan? Should we do something tonight or are you a planning type of man?”

Emma usually worked spur of the moment but she had a feeling that Neal was the opposite. He seemed more careful than she’d been in the past. It wasn’t a bad thing but it was something she’d have to adjust to.

“Well—usually, I’d say I’m pretty impulsive, but if you wanna pull good haul, planning’s a good idea.”

Wrapping his fingers around the glass in front of him, he tapped the pads of his thumbs on the material while he mused on the idea of taking this woman, who was still essentially a stranger to him, on a job. It would have to be something low-risk, something with a high chance of success, and most importantly, something that fit her skills.

“What’s your experience? I mean, what kinda jobs’ve you done?”

Jobs was a more decent term than the actual description of their occupation, something more inconspicuous than words like ‘thievery’ and 'grand larceny’, yet still accurate enough to get the point across.

“If we’re gonna do this right, we need to make sure you’re in the right place for our first job together, before we move on to the big stuff.”
