“Oh, yeah.”
Producing a grim expression, Neal averted his gaze in order to hide the sense of shame that was clearly visible in his eyes. He knew for a fact that he had hurt the person he loved most, be it for her own good at that time—-or at least that’s what he’d been told. In hindsight, staying with her would have been a much better option, but every decision is easier in hindsight.
“I have. And I ain’t proud of it.”
