“No, don’t—-you can’t talk like that.”
There was a mixture of despair and anger in his voice then, though he wasn’t entirely sure if the anger was really directed at his father, rather than being inward fury over the fact that he didn’t have a good solution for the situation. He hadn’t seen it coming. None of it.
His breath was shaky then as he inhaled in attempt to gather the strength to say something. So much had changed in so little time, and now this…
“You can’t leave me again.”
He tried to make it sound stern, as though he was making a statement of sorts, but his voice broke at the final word.
